Double Exposure – The Land Remembers

An Ancient Celtic Collection by Pearlywinks

Step into an ancient landscape of standing stones, mist-covered valleys, sacred woodland and stories carried on the wind with Double Exposure – The Land Remembers, a richly atmospheric Celtic-inspired digital craft collection from Pearlywinks.

Created as part of our Double Exposure series, this collection has been designed to give you all the individual pieces needed to build your own layered artwork. The characters, animals, mythology and decorative elements have deliberately been supplied as separate images, leaving you completely free to combine them with the scenic artwork and create your own Double Exposure designs inside Atelier.

At the heart of the collection is a varied cast of Celtic-inspired men and women, from younger travellers and wanderers to warriors, guardians and ancient-looking figures. Rather than everyone standing in identical poses, the characters have been created with a mixture of natural expressions, movement and direction, giving you much more freedom when building compositions.

The collection also includes a beautiful selection of symbolic animals, including majestic deer, wolves, ravens, crows, swans, horses, hares, owls and other creatures strongly associated with Celtic landscape, folklore and symbolism. Each works beautifully as a focal image in its own right or as part of a more complex layered design.

Trees play an important part too. Ancient oak, rowan, hawthorn, hazel, yew, birch, willow, holly, alder, ash, apple and elder bring the woodland side of the collection to life, giving you everything from powerful statement trees to quieter natural elements for scene building and layering.

For those who enjoy the darker and more mysterious side of folklore, The Land Remembers ventures into Celtic-inspired mythology with supernatural riders, forest guardians, sacred-well figures, banshee-inspired characters, ancient spirits, legendary hounds, water creatures, selkie influences and otherworldly beings drawn from Irish, Scottish and Welsh traditions.

The scenic artwork ranges from dramatic focal backgrounds to softer, quieter landscapes designed to sit behind your main artwork. Expect ancient stone circles, woodland paths, misty lochs, mountain valleys, waterfalls, ruined settlements, sacred places, rugged coastline, old trees and atmospheric moorland. Some scenes are bold and dramatic, while others are intentionally softer so your characters and Double Exposure artwork remain the star of the finished project.

A large collection of Celtic-inspired elements and knotwork adds another layer of versatility. You’ll find carved stones, torcs, brooches, shields, vessels, harps, horns, scrolls, coins, pouches, frames, borders, knotwork motifs and decorative pieces inspired by weathered bronze, stone and ancient craftsmanship.

There is also a coordinating Celtic-style alphabet and number set, ideal for personalisation, names, dates, journal pages and bespoke card-making projects.

Finishing the collection are a range of word art and sentiments, combining atmospheric phrases such as The Land Remembers, Follow the Ancient Path and Spirit of the Wild with more traditional card-making sentiments. Celtic knotwork, aged metals, stone and subtle foliage help everything feel part of the same world rather than looking like separate additions.

The colour palette moves through moss green, weathered stone, aged bronze, earthy browns, muted heather and atmospheric gold, giving the whole collection a beautifully old-world feel while still leaving plenty of room for you to add your own colour, effects and creative style.

Double Exposure – The Land Remembers is about far more than simply recreating a Celtic scene. It is a collection of people, creatures, places and symbols designed to be pulled apart, layered, blended and reimagined.

Ancient paths, forgotten stories, wild landscapes and old legends are waiting inside.

The land remembers. Now it is yours to tell the story.
